Half year achievement

Today is a great day. I finished the first draft of my thesis and I ran for 5 km! YAY!
It's almost 6 months... and look what I've achieved...
- Done my last main work in my phd
- Written 2 papers (1 journal and 1 conference)
   The conference one has been rejected... Not too upset as that was not my main work, just an unplanned idea and I thought I'd give a shot. Now I still believe it is a good paper, so I just need to make some modifications and submit somewhere else.
- Done the draft of my thesis
   What needs to be done is to read through it, to see if anything needs to be changed; and to push my supervisor to read it.
- Run 5 km within 35.5 minutes. That can be nothing for lots of people but for me it is a great achievement. I started from end of January and guess how much I could run then... 1.48km (surprisingly!!!).

Hopefully by the end of this month I will finish proof reading my thesis. That would be a great milestone for first 6 months of the year.
Then next 6 months will come with other big challenges in my life.
WHAT A YEAR!

Thesis Writing

This year started with a big project - WRITING MY THESIS.
It's gonna be a busy year!

Starting in January and now I already have 66 pages.
Well, most of them are just from my papers and I did write one complete chapter from scratch.
Two months with few chapters and an online course... that is not too bad :).


Lots of people complain about this writing period. They say this is a hard time and you really need to motivate yourself. When starting up, some of my colleagues claimed that they would finish within few months but it always took a lot more than they planned.
So far, I didn't find it hard yet. I am actually quite enjoying it.
Everything is on track right now. I still have some more to do and hope I can keep up with my own plan.

I made this photo yesterday as a celebration for one of my milestones in the writing plan.
This flower is so lovely... Well, this reminds me that this weekend I should get some bulbs and plant them :).
